Appraisal Waivers/ACE
The FEMA Declared Disaster Policy and Procedure is being updated to align with Agency requirements, effective immediately.
A new appraisal will no longer be required to evidence no damage to a property when an appraisal waiver or ACE was previously exercised prior to a FEMA declared disaster.
If the effective date of the appraisal alternative was on or prior to the disaster “Incident Period” end date:
- an exterior inspection with photos evidencing the property is free from damage and the disaster had no effect on the value or marketability is required.
If the effective date of the appraisal alternative was the day after the “Incident Period” end date up to the expiration date of the disaster (120 days from the end of the “Incident Period”):
- A full appraisal with interior and exterior inspection is required (no change to policy).
Please reference the FEMA Declared Disaster Policy and Procedure document in the Legal & Compliance intranet site/Company Policies & Procedures/Company Procedures and Job Aides/ Origination Process for the changes outlined in this announcement.
