FEMA Declared Disaster in California

On August 22, 2020, FEMA announced a Major Disaster Declaration pertaining to fires in California, with an incident date of August 14, 2020. No incident end date has been declared at this time.

This announcement addresses an update to FHA and USDA lending, adds a new county (Butte) to the declared disaster and opens up purchases in the remaining counties. Please see details below.

Announcements related to this disaster:

  • Announcement 2020-098 was released on August 26, stating that closings and fundings would be paused in the FEMA declared counties
  • Announcement 2020-104 was released on September 2, opening up closings and fundings in certain zip codes for Conventional and VA products
  • Announcement 2020-105 was released on September 10, opening up lending for FHA and USDA products

Butte County

On September 13, FEMA added Butte County to the currently declared disaster. Effective October 14, NewRez will resume closings and fundings of loans in Butte County, which has been identified and designated for Individual Assistance from FEMA.
